Therapy can be a powerful mechanism for family change. When we find it difficult to cope, therapy can help find inner strength to help make transformative change. Engaging in therapy takes courage. It is a shared process that has been shown to lead to emotional healing. My experience has been to support families undergoing a medical illness. When a member of a family experiences a life threatening illness, the whole family is affected. It can be experienced as a trauma. When the patient is a child, many issues may arise in the quest to help that child survive. For example, siblings may feel neglected, the couple is impacted, and the daily care of the patient takes precedence which may strain the family, inadvertently.

About Me

Many times, awareness building is the stepping stone to developing change and understanding within our relationships.

Individual

Because children reside in their system, I am able to meet with children individually, however, including parents is vital in sustaining change. I can meet with a child or adolescent in a safe and nurturing environment and include the caregivers as necessary to provide support and guidance. With adult individuals, cultivating a strong relationship to facilitate awareness is the key to nurture growth, understanding and build awareness.

Family

Families are seen as a whole to promote understanding and restore hope. Communication patterns are discussed in a secure and safe therapeutic environment.

Couples

I can be a neutral party and provide guidance to couples undergoing relationship conflict
